MILLENNIA

The all-new open-chassis MILLENNIA Vacuum Turntable System is SOTA’s latest assault on the State-Of-The-Art in LP playback equipment.

The MILLENNIA features an ultra-rigid, unified sub-assembly with a critically damped one piece sub-chassis, which is milled from a one inch thick solid aluminum plate. Unlike the COSMOS and previous top-of-the-line SOTA models the MILLENNIA incorporates a spring-less, hanging four-point balanced-mass suspension system. The multi-layer suspension utilizes a variety of materials including Axidynea®, which is a unique energy absorbing viscoelastic polymer, to provide excellent outside energy rejection at critical midrange frequencies.

The MILLENNIA uses SOTA’s internally damped, multi-layer 15-pound vacuum platter system with the Vinyl Format platter mat. It incorporates SOTA’s inverted bearing assembly design, utilizing a polished sapphire thrust plate with zirconium bearing. In the vacuum equipped version, the SOTA self-sensing record-hold-down system uses a high-tech pneumatic sensing circuit to provide vacuum clamping and maintenance of exact low-pressure vacuum hold-down.

The MILLENNIA’s synthesized sine-wave, 24 pole A/C Stepper Motor drive system is housed in a separate, high-mass enclosure and is powered by SOTA’s Electronic Flywheel power supply. Additional damping has been added to this enclosure, as well as adjustable feet for leveling.

The MILLENNIA turntable includes the Cosmos arm board and SOTA Reflex Clamp. The Cosmos arm board is multi-layers of acrylic, aluminum, and lead in a constrained mode and is high polished. The ultimate mechanical clamping system, the SOTA Reflex Clamp assures intimate contact between the record and the mat over its entire surface.

COSMOS

The COSMOS takes ultimate rigidity and mass damping in sub-assembly, arm mounting, motor coupling, and bearing structure to new absolutes. The COSMOS chassis is hung on a floating seismic platform of four-point spring suspension.  The chassis utilizes a one-piece sub-assembly milled from solid aluminum as its foundation.  This chassis design is so effective that the platter, motor and arm block are mounted directly on the suspended sub-chassis.  This provides unvarying geometry between the motor and the turntable.  The dampened sub-chassis and multi-layered platter isolate the arm and record surface from motor vibrations.

The COSMOS utilizes SOTA’s internally dampened, multi-layer 15-pound vacuum platter system with the Vinyl Format mat, which exactly matches the mechanical impedance of record vinyl, making the record, mat and platter function as a single, non-resonant entity.

The COSMOS platter incorporates SOTA’s inverted bearing assembly design, utilizing a polished sapphire thrust plate with zirconium bearing. The SOTA self-sensing record-hold-down system uses a high-tech pneumatic sensing circuit to provide vacuum clamping and maintenance of exact low-pressure vacuum hold-down. The synthesized sine-wave drive 24-pole A/C stepper motor, designed for critical computerized motion use, has electronic speed control and speed change.

The COSMOS Vacuum Turntable includes the Cosmos arm board for universal tonearm compatibility, and the Reflex Clamp.  The Cosmos arm board is multi layers of acrylic, aluminum and lead in a constrained mode and is highly polished.

The ultimate mechanical clamping system, the SOTA Reflex Clamp, assures intimate contact between the record and the mat over its entire surface. The clear beveled-seamed acrylic dust cover with tension hinges is available as an additional cost option.

The Cosmos may also be upgraded to the new top-of-the-line turntable, the Millennia.

COMET

SOTA has taken an entirely different approach to the COMET platter design, by using special high-density polymers in its construction. The thick, massive platter of the COMET incorporates dampening material sandwiched between two layers of precision-machined 3/8" Plexiglas.  A mat is included for the best possible record-to-mat interface.

And because of the energy-dissipative property of polymers, various types of polymer materials are used throughout the COMET, not only for the platter, but also for the sub-platter and bearing cup assembly.  The spindle/bearing assembly of the COMET is a state-of-the-art design, and one of the keys to its outstanding performance.

The Drive System of the COMET consists of a high-density polymer sub-platter driven by a 24-pole AC synchronous motor originally designed for ultra-precise computer use. The motor drives a precision-ground, low-tension belt which provides a vibration-free drive system for the rotating assembly of the turntable.

The Chassis and Cabinet Damping System of the COMET continues the design theme of isolation from noise and spurious vibrations.  Environmental isolation has been accomplished by way of a monolithic, massive internally dampened cabinet, which effectively isolates the turntable system.  Additionally, special energy-absorbing leveling feet are utilized and incorporate a proprietary visco-elastic polymer pad to damp vibrations.

The COMET turntable includes the precision S-303 tonearm, which is a one-piece, tapered arm tube design which yields exceptional performance by offering maximum rigidity, optimal coupling of cartridge to arm, and cancellation of  tonearm resonance.  It utilizes precision ground bearings for minimal friction and exceptional durability.  The S303 tonearm offers adjustable anti-skating, damped cueing, and can accommodate a wide range of phono cartridges.

Options for the COMET include a hinged dust cover and the I Clamp.

MOONBEAM

The design of the SOTA MOONBEAM carefully identifies and addresses each variable that undermines pure signal retrieval. The result is an elegant and cost-effective solution of the highest quality.  Hand-crafted with care in the USA, the MOONBEAM is unmatched in performance in its price category.

The main platter and the sub-platter of the MOONBEAM is made of a special high-density polymer.  The precision-machined platter is virtually inert and is therefore extraordinarily effective in dissipating the resonant energy generated by the record-playing process.  The unique platter design is responsible for the superb fidelity at an affordable price.  To further neutralize the resonant LP, an energy damping interface mat is also provided.

The spindle/bearing assembly of the MOONBEAM is a state-of-the-art design, and one of the keys to its outstanding performance.  The bearing cup is manufactured of a high-tech material called Turcite™, which is a Teflon-impregnated, self-lubricating polymer designed specifically for ultra-precise bearing applications, and is ideally suited to the turntable spindle/bearing function.  As a result, the MOONBEAM bearing has a nearly unlimited life and is significantly quieter than even the most expensive and precise metal-to-metal bearing assembly.

The drive system of the MOONBEAM consists of a sub-platter driven by a 24-pole AC synchronous motor designed for ultra-precise computer use. The motor drives a precision-ground, low tension belt.  The MOONBEAM is equipped for both 33 and 45 RPM speeds.

The chassis of the MOONBEAM continues the design theme of isolation from noise and spurious vibrations.  The MOONBEAM accomplishes this task by way of its solid layering of an internally damped chassis, which effectively isolates the turntable system.  Additionally, the MOONBEAM utilizes special energy-absorbing leveling feet to further damp vibrations.  Furniture-quality wood veneer enhances the MOONBEAM, with standard finish options including natural, dark, or black oak, American cherry and American walnut.

The included SOTA S202 precision tonearm is a straight, fixed-headshell tonearm with internal damping. This design offers maximum rigidity, optimal coupling of cartridge to arm, and minimizes spurious resonances.

Options for the MOONBEAM include a hinged dust cover and the I Clamp.
