Osage Audio Products introduces the Niangua line of high performance audio cables.

An Idea In The Making
A couple of things have been true about audio cables for awhile now.  First, interconnects and loudspeaker cables that truly perform well are expensive, and there are always people popping up making the next “high-end” cables at a “price lower than the big name brands.”  Sometimes one or the other works out just fine for the consumer; sometimes it leaves the consumer with empty pockets and something really good, and sometimes it leaves the consumer with empty pockets and something that is no better than what they already had.

In early 2009 we began researching how we might be able to offer audio cables that perform in the class with what are considered excellent cables without having to charge high prices.  We started at square one with a clean sheet of paper and no preconceived ideas about what was what or how things should be done.

A Good Audio Cable Starts With The Wire
There is a lot of wire out there that has been used for audio cables.  Some of it is specifically designed by people who know what they are doing, and much of this ends up in relatively high-priced cables.  Some other cable builders use everything from extension cord wire to Cat5 computer wire.

Obviously, our first move had to be to learn what properties and materials and design features should form the recipe for a good audio cable.  Since fudging our way through with something that we found in the electrical isle at the local hardware store was not an option for us, we had to find someone who could teach us what we needed to know.

Not All Wire Is The Same
One of the first things that we found out is that good wire for hi-fi cables is not created by someone in a dark room practicing some black art.  In nearly every instance it is designed, specified, and manufactured by real electrical engineers who work for companies that make all kinds of wire, including wiring harnesses for critical systems on the International Space Station, sensitive medical and life support systems, and lots of other things in our everyday world that have to work properly all the time.

Come to find out, there’s really not any black art or hocus-pocus to designing electrical wire for specific purposes after all.  It’s science and physics.

Getting It Right
Having gotten that far in our education, we started asking questions – a lot of them.  Throughout the processes of design and manufacturing of the Niangua audio cables product line, we worked with electrical engineers, metallurgists, communications technicians, broadcast engineers, and a host of other specialist in their fields.  What we learned from these exceptional people has provided us with the knowledge that we need to help us reach our goal of building cables for your hi-fi that offer excellent performance and true value.

Niangua audio cables are designed and built to provide ease of use, many years of service, and great sound.  We have chosen connectors for each product type that are well built and that work like they are supposed to.

We settled on high purity copper conductors for use in Niangua audio cables.  High purity copper offers excellent performance for the price when utilized properly.  We’re happy to say that this high purity copper wire is made in the USA.

Our choices in other parts are based on value for the money.  The cable sleeves and shrink tubing are chosen for their durability and quality.

Our choices in construction methodology are based on intelligent design that will allow the cable to work properly, dress easily, and do so without the risk of connections and solder joints that crack or fail.

We have chosen simple but effective packaging to help keep costs as low as possible.  Paying $50.00 or more for a jewelry box doesn’t make the cable inside it perform any better.

We invite you to try Niangua by Osage Audio Products cables in your system.  We think that you will like them.

For questions about Niangua audio cables, call us at 573-696-3551 or email us.  Niangua cables can be order by phone or through our Online Store

PLEASE NOTE – We can build Niangua audio cable in any length that you need.  The lengths show are our standard lengths.  We can also substitute for the standard connectors with just about anything on the market that you desire, including models from WBT, Kimber Kable, Cardas, and Dayton.  If you would like anything that deviates from our standard models, please call or email us.

“Returning to my opening remarks, what ultimately then makes the Niangua cables exceptional is their price. They cost one-half to one-third of what the comparison cables cost. This makes them an incredible value for cables of their sonic quality.”

“I have brought home many digital interconnects from local dealers and taken them all back. I have a Nordost Silver Shadow that is better than the generic cables but it does not compare with yours (Niangua SPDIF Digital Cable).”
