Music has always been the driving force for Mårten Design. They believe that music is perhaps the greatest emotive art, and by accurately reproducing sound, Mårten Design makes moments that can move you. Mårten Design loudspeakers are for discerning listeners and those that want to hear reality.
Marten was founded by Leif Mårten Olofsson in Sweden in 1998, but the Olofsson family story in music goes back further. In the early 1900’s, Leif’s grandfather Josef Olofsson built violins using the Stradivarius as a benchmark; an instrument that was played by Mårten Larsson, his maternal grandfather.
In the 1970’s, Leif made his first speakers in the family home. This was a project that he was keenly interested in from an early age.
From Mårten’s first speaker, the Mingus, the product range has grown to include several loudspeaker model series. Mårten Design also now operates a recording studio and a record label. The company was born of passion and has grown steadily, gaining wide-reaching international success and respect every step along the way.
Marten is still a family business today. Along with Leif Olofsson, his brothers Jörgen and Lars also play important roles.

The Mingus and Coltrane loudspeaker models are hand-built, high-performance, state-of-the-art loudspeakers that compete with the best available, and at a much lower price than most that make these claims. The ability of these models to resolve fine detail, present a realistic soundstage, and generally just sound about as close to the real thing as you can get demands that they be carefully matched with upstream components. Mating the model to the room is also very critical with these loudspeakers in order for the consumer to get their money’s worth.
These loudspeakers are also large and heavy, requiring careful consideration with unpacking, setting up, and positioning them. Setup and everything ancillary to them is of the upmost importance.
