More than forty years ago, physicist and master watchmaker Ernst Benz began building phono cartridges. Driven by his interest in music and hi-fi, Mr. Benz used his skill and knowledge with delicate instrumentation and jewels to develop what has today evolved into one of the premier phono cartridge manufacturing companies ever to exist.
Ernst Benz, among other things, developed the brand’s ruby plate generator, which is top among the features that make a Benz Micro cartridge what it is.
In 1994, Mr. Benz sold Benz Micro to his colleague Albert Lukaschek. A brilliant engineer in his own right, Mr. Lukaschek has continued to refine and improve upon Ernst Benz’s designs to firmly place Benz Micro phono cartridges among the best available.
Benz Micro phono cartridges are painstakingly produced by the hands of the longtime artisans in the picturesque Swiss village of Neuhausen am Rheinfall in the canton of Schaffhausen. Every step, from coil winding to final testing, is methodically performed with perfection of product as the goal. These artisans, under the direction of Albert Lukaschek, would settle for nothing less.

All Benz Micro models are offered as a low output moving coil type, and some models are also available by special order as medium and high output moving coil types, and all models feature a nude line contact stylus profile and boron cantilever and outstanding channel separation.
